I painted these dead flowers on an old, battered canvas, both of which had had their time. I really enjoyed simplifying the brush strokes for this one, and I’m obsessed with the vase… I really tried to keep a few sumptuous marks in there to contrast with the flowers indefinite spider like scrawls. Turns out I much prefer painting dead flowers!
